The Ayrshire Roads Alliance, as part of its ongoing programme to improve the condition of the road network, will be carrying out essential road resurfacing works on Mill of Shield Road, Drongan.
The works, which will take place in two phases, are due to start on Tuesday 3 May and will continue for up to three weeks.
To undertake these works safely and efficiently, access to the road will be restricted during this period and every effort will be made to keep restrictions to a minimum.
Phase one – is due to start on Tuesday 3 May and continue until Friday 6 May.
Access to the road will be restricted and delays should be expected. Access will be maintained for properties situated within the works but only when it is safe and practical to do so and when directed by the onsite Traffic Marshalls.
Phase two – is due to start on Monday 9 May and continue until Monday 17 May.
This phase of the works will include the installation of speed tables. Access to the road will be restricted and delays should be expected. During phase two residents should access their properties from the Drumwhill Road end of Mill of Shield Road.
A signed diversion route and traffic marshals will be in place to assist road users during the works.
The diversion route will be as follows: B730 Littlemill Road – Barbieston Avenue – Coronation Road – Coyle Avenue – Mill of Sheild Road and vice versa.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance will endeavour to assist residents and businesses in any way where it is safe, and practical to do so whilst these works are being undertaken.
If residents within the extents of the works require to travel throughout the day it is advised that vehicles are removed from driveways and parked out with the extents of the works to ensure ease of travel without lengthy delays.
Early refuse collection
To prevent a conflict with the road works an early refuse uplift has been arranged.
Please ensure your refuse bins are ready for collection from 6.30am on your normal collection day.
During phase one of the works businesses access will be available from Drumwhill Road / Coyle Avenue end of Mill of Shield Road.
During phase two of the works access should be gained from B730 Little Mill Road.
Health centre access
During phase one of the works access to the Health Centre will be from Carston Drive, please note access directly in to the Health Centre car park will only be given when safe and practical to do so.
During phase two of the works access should be gained from B730 Little Mill Road or Carston Drive.
Pedestrian access will be maintained when possible to do so. Traffic Marshals will be on site to assist pedestrians where required.
Vehicles permitted during the works
Emergency service vehicles and vehicles involved directly with the road works will be permitted prompt access.
Other vehicles requiring access to properties for business matters, will only be permitted following instructions from the onsite Traffic Marshals and access will only be allowed when it is safe and practical to do so.
In the interest of safety, due care and attention is required at all times if you are travelling through the work area, speeds should be kept to an absolute minimum, as you will be running on a temporary road surface at times and some ironware may be exposed.
It is hoped that the essential works will be completed within the timescales stipulated, however the work is weather dependent and any unforeseen difficulties could result in a delay.
Updates will be published on the Ayrshire Roads Alliance website.
