The Ayrshire Roads Alliance on behalf of South Ayrshire Council will be hosting free winter resilience events for local residents.
The events will be held on:
Wednesday 20th February
6:30pm – 9:00pm
John Pollock Centre, Ayr
Thursday 28th February
6:30pm – 9:00pm
Girvan Academy, Girvan
These informative events will provide a valuable insight into the Alliance’s winter preparations. Guest speakers from MeteoGroup and Vaisala will explain the science behind forecasting winter weather and winter management weather stations.
Officers from the Alliance will then take participants outside for a practical demonstration of winter gritting equipment.
After a short break for tea and biscuits, the second half of the event will focus on operational responsibilities of the Ayrshire Roads Alliance, Winter Resilience support, and an overview of the new gritter tracking system that is now available on the Alliance website.
The event will close with a presentation by a community resilience group that has been formed to help keep pavements clear during periods of severe weather.
Stewart Turner, Head of Roads: Ayrshire Roads Alliance said: “As part of our winter preparations we thought it would be really helpful to hold free winter resilience events for our local communities”. These events will focus on our preparations for winter and will cover community resilience providing helpful information on how our communities can Get Ready for winter.”
