The Ayrshire Roads Alliance has launched a match day parking consultation, which will run until Saturday 30 October, for residents who live in the vicinity of Rugby Park, Kilmarnock.
The consultation will address concerns raised by residents in streets surrounding Rugby Park including Harperland Drive, Rugby Crescent, Scott Road and the Holmes Road area, which have been negatively affected by indiscriminate or obstructive parking on match days.
Full consideration has been given to this complex issue, including emergency vehicle access, evacuation routes and the local bus service route, which includes Mount Avenue and in response, the Alliance has proposed two options:
Option 1 –
All day Match Day Restrictions
Restrictions are applied that would introduce all day waiting restrictions.
Restrictions would apply to all drivers, including residents, between 00:01 and 23:59 on match days. The following sign would accompany single yellow road markings.
Option 2 –
Part of the day Match Day Restrictions
|Restrictions would apply to all drivers, including residents, during specified times only. The following sign would accompany single yellow road markings.|
|For both options, permanent, flip down signage would also be installed on existing street furniture or sign posts to notify drivers when it is a match day. The sign would be flipped open by Alliance employees and closed after each match.|
The full consultation is now live on the Ayrshire Roads Alliance website and your opinion will count. Let us know what you think of the proposals, why you think your street should be considered for inclusion in the new scheme, if your street would benefit from permanent double yellow lines, particularly at junctions, and if there is anything else you think the Alliance needs to consider.
Once the consultation closes on Saturday 30 October, the results will be fully considered and a detailed report will be made to Cabinet with recommendations.
