Pupils from across Ayrshire joined forces at a Junior Road Safety Officer (JSRO) road safety event organised by Ayrshire Roads Alliance and North Ayrshire Council.
The day proved very popular, allowing Ayrshire’s Junior Road Safety Officers to collaborate and share ideas while learning presentation skills, discovering the dangers of distractions and learning the importance of actively travelling to schools.
Chloe from Living Streets Scotland said: “It was fascinating to hear the children’s views on active travel and the barriers they experience in their journeys to school. Engaging with our young people to help them seek alternative modes of active transport is of utmost importance.”
Primary 6 teacher Jenni McFadzean from Springside Primary School added: “The joint JRSO event was a great opportunity and confidence builder for our JRSOs to share the ways that they have empowered their friends and fellow pupils to make decisions in their community to ensure their daily travels are safe.”
