New Kilmarnock parking tariffs start from 15 July

New on-street parking tariffs have been introduced in Kilmarnock to improve parking space availability and traffic flow in the town centre.

The on-street parking tariff, which has not been changed for the last seven years, will encompass streets including Bank Place, College Wynd and Nelson Street, and the 15-minute and 45-minute parking options will also be removed.

The changes to on-street parking charges are being made to encourage motorists to use car parks for cheaper and longer stay parking.

Blue Badge holders will continue to be exempt from all parking charges and the revised charges will not affect resident or business parking permit costs. Monthly, quarterly, and annual permits will remain at their current prices.

Full details of the revised charges can be found below:

Charges are also being re-introduced in car parks on Saturdays between 9am and 12pm to discourage all day worker/commuter parking and enable a turnover of parking spaces. In considering when charges should apply, the Kilmarnock Business Association has been consulted and the feedback received has been used to help shape the proposals.

Parking charges will also be applied to electric vehicles parked within car park EV charging bays.

The new arrangements also aim to contribute to the Council’s and the Scottish Government’s collective Net Zero ambitions through a reduction in vehicle journeys resulting from an increased availability of parking spaces. For more information, please visit Tell Me Scotland.
