As part of an ongoing bridge maintenance programme The Ayrshire Roads Alliance will be carrying out bridge masonry repairs on the A70 Burnock Bridge, Ochiltree.
The works involving the taking down and rebuilding of both upstream and downstream parapets are expected to start on Monday 12 June for 12 weeks.
During this time the rebuilt parapet will be heightened slightly to meet the required minimum height of 1150mm and other masonry and pointing repairs will be carried out to the bridge spandrel, wingwalls and training walls.
The works also involve the resurfacing of the carriageway across the bridge with a renewed antiskid surface and renewed white lining.
To minimise disruption to the traveling public the bridge repairs will be carried out from scaffolding with temporary traffic lights in place at all times, however, during the programmed resurfacing, anti skid and lining works, a road closure of the A70 with a signed diversion will be required. Resurfacing and lining works are scheduled to be carried out on consecutive weekends.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance apologises for any inconvenience caused during these essential works.
